"Jordan has the tools for the job"

When you go to Albany to be in the Legislature, you can't go in cold.

You have to have a solid understanding of the district you're representing. You have to have a deep understanding of the issues affecting the citizens and have a personal connection with those citizens. It helps if you know a little about the law.

In the race for 112th Assembly District, representing Washington County and parts of Saratoga and Rensselaer counties, Republican Tony Jordan is clearly the most knowledgeable and experienced candidate.

We like Mr. Jordan's stance on the tax cap proposal, which he agrees must be paired with a tax circuit breaker, as well as his support of consolidation in municipal government where possible. Despite being from the opposing political party, Mr. Jordan is open about his praise for Gov. David Paterson's bold efforts to force the Legislature and state agencies to cut state spending. And we like that he recognizes that local communities must prepare themselves through master plans and zoning changes for the development fallout from the Advanced Micro Devices chip plant.

He has experience as a partner in a law firm and as a former Washington County assistant district attorney. And he has a strong appreciation for farming and open space issues thanks to his family ties.

Assemblyman Roy McDonald, whom Jordan seeks to succeed, has proven that just because you're in the Republican minority in the Assembly doesn't mean you have to be a wallflower. McDonald has had success working with the Democratic majority on local issues such as history tourism, veterans benefits, education and aid to rural communities. So we have no problem believing that a Republican can make a difference in the Assembly for local residents if he works hard and is willing to work across party lines.

We recommend residents of the 112th District support Tony Jordan on Election Day.
